Fitness

By no choice of my own, I was sick for a lot of the break.  I was never deathly ill stuck to my bed, but I was not feeling good enough to run or work up any type of heart rate for a lot of the days.   I was kinda lazy for a few of the days after I started feeling better and didn't want to exert much energy. So all in all, I didn't work out as much as I would have liked, but its ok, I did what I could and now that I have taken adequate time to rest and am feeling 100% better, I'm seriously looking forward to this week and my workouts! For the last few months, I have been tracking my workouts almost every day in the Fitness tab on my page.  I have now archived that page and have begun a new 2010 fitness  page.  I'm not doing anything special on this page, just logging my workouts. I thought it would be fun to start from scratch for the new year.  I got a heart rate monitor for Christmas, but it didn't have a distance tracker, so we sent it back and today I am going to try and pick out a monitor that logs, distance, calories and heart rate, etc.
(any suggestions for a good one around $175/180?)
We're going to have to spend a bit more to add the distance tracker, but I'd really like to have it. My hopes are to incorporate more running into my workouts, if my body will allow.  So far I've done great and have had no pain, but I am a bit hesitant to get super excited about running since I've had problems in the past with my back.  I am going to take it slow and see how I feel and set goals based on my body and how It reacts. If possible I'd love to run a few races and build my distance.  Speaking of races, why do they cost so stinking much? There is a race called the "Ragnar" that Dave and I have been thinking about running, but it is $100 a person. Blah. Maybe if it was just me running it wouldn't seem so bad, but $200 for us to run a race….I just don't like the sound of that.  I think $25 or $50 a person is more like it.  There is a race in San Francisco called The 12k across the bay, which I'd love to do. We did it once a few years ago and it was so much fun! We met my parents in San Fran and shared a hotel room. We hit all the hot spots, ate at yummy restaurants and then ran the race on our last day there.  We had not trained at ALL and by the time we made it to the airport that night we were both limping, Dave so bad that he thought he broke his foot. I had to push him in a wheel chair around the airport.  After a few days we both ended up being just fine…but that's what we get for not training for a 12k run.  We hadn't even really even been exercising.  What were we thinking??
There is also another race i'd love to do. It's a 1/2 marathon in May. It starts in the canyon and the trail goes around a large damn and then down the canyon…it would be so beautiful. I guess I'll have to play it by ear and see how my body does. My tentative plan is to run 3x a week and strength train 2x a week. I plan on taking Friday's  and Sunday's off.  I think this schedule will keep me motivated, strong, and give me the rest in between that I need. It's just a tentative plan, but a plan it is.

Goals

Tonight Dave and I are going to have Family Home Evening. Click on the link to learn what Family Home Evening is.
We are going to review our goals from last year and see how we've done. We have of course reviewed our goals throughout the year, but we still like to sit down and review them at the end/beginning of the year and see how we've done.  I'm excited to see what we have accomplished and excited to set some new challenging goals.  I love the new year.  Even though I'm really unhappy about being at work right now, I'm happy about today and about starting a new year. I'm excited for 2010 and everything that will happen.  Living in our new house, a new baby (not mine, sissys), lots of vacations, holidays, summer, new traditions……there is just so much to look forward to! I'm excited for a year full of healthy living, positive attitude and continued improvements.  I think 2010 will be my best year so far.

Check out this bucket list I posted on my personal blog a few years ago. The highlighted items are all things I've done. This is not a personal list I created, just a random bucket list that was fun to do.  I've been able to add a few  highlighted items to this list since then.  I'll underline the one's I've done since originally posting this (there are 4 new ones).

Vacations

Every year over our anniversary Dave and I go on a tropical vacation to celebrate.  Around this time each year, I start making the arrangements. This year we aren't sure where we want to go. We've been to Maui twice and last year we did an all inclusive in Mexico. Since we just bought a new home, we need to try and find something a little less expensive this year.  We still want to go tropical, but have not yet decided exactly what to do or where to go.
Any IDEAS???  We've thrown around the idea of a cruise…but to where? I've been A LOT of cruises and but Dave has only been on one, so this may be the right way for us to go this year…???
If you have any great cruise spots, or any vacation ideas, let me know!

Widdle My Middle

Ange at Oh She glows started and awesome 30 day challenge that is going to help get my belly stronger and in better shape! Obviously I have been not followed through with my 30day shred challenge. BUT not because I don't want to do it. I simply can't right now. It has been almost two weeks since my last shred and I don't plan on doing it until my foot is better. (Sorry Shreders). I hope you will still keep shredding without me and keep me posted until I can get back at it.  I was excited to read about Widdle My Middle and am personally up for the challenge. It is definitely something I can do with my foot pain. Doing core work everyday is a great way to strengthen your back as well, which it seems we are all in need of doing!!

Here is HER challenge:

When? The Challenge takes place from Nov 11th until Dec 10th 2009.

Who? Anyone can join!

What? Strengthen your core and get that belly looking good!

1) PICTURES: Before, half way, and after pictures on Nov 11th, Nov 25th, and Dec. 10th, respectively.

2) MEASUREMENTS: Before, half way, and after measurements of my ‘smallest’ waist (above belly button for me), widest waist (3"-4" lower approx.), and hips (over fullest part of butt)- same dates as above.

3) CORE WORK: 6-10 minute core workout, 5 days a week, doing the following exercises:

  • Plank
  • Side plank
  • Plank with elbows on stability ball
  • Stability Ball Jackknifes
  • Stability ball roll out
  • Plank Rotations

I have already completed day 1 and 2. They were both great ab workouts! My abs were burning and my foot felt fine. I did make sure I was wearing shoes to give my foot the support it needed.I took my measurements and #1 picture last night. I asked Dave if he would join me and his answer was…uh, maybe. I asked again and he said no. Just give him time…he'll come around.

SO….Are any of you doing the "Widdle My Middle" challenge? If not want to join in???

Update:
We aren't moving in tomorrow. TEARS!!! I think we won't close until Monday or Tuesday of next week.  Oh well, what do you do.  Great thing is the owners are SUPER cool and don't mind if we proceed with the scheduled deliveries we have tomorrow. So we will be getting our Fridge, couch and tv stand tomorrow. I think we will slowly start to move in a few other things too! We are lucky they are so great about it!

Shred Day 3

Shred Day 3, Level

2

You were right!! Level #2 is just as intense as level #3.  My arms (mostly shoulders) are still fatigued and sore. I could barley hold my arm up to put on my mascara this morning. I seriously had to take tiny breaks to give my shoulder a rest…I can't believe that just 20 minutes can fatigue your muscles so much…love it!  Stephanie warned me about the squats and army raises (chest flys)….I didn't know what I was in for…all I can say is OUCH. They hurt so freaking bad. I have been using 5lb weights throughout each workout, but after the first set of those baby's combined with the shoulder press, leg extension immediately afterwards, I dropped the 5lbs and went down to 3lbs.  Even the 3lbs were killing me…killing me!  I opened the basement window in hopes that the FREEZING cold weather would make the room seem cooler, didn't happen. I was hot as ever and sweating like crazy! The workout was awesome!

I loved the Cardio too! I really like doing the double jump rope. It's fun to pretend like I'm on a trampoline and see how high I can get. When I visualize this my calf's work so much harder and get so fatigued…that move works so many body parts I love it!  I also loved the plank jumps. If you focus on holding your tummy in tight and keeping your body squared over our shoulders you are working your shoulders, triceps, biceps, chest, stomach and inner and outer thighs! THAT IS WHAT I LIKE! An all in one move!!

The situps were great too!  Does anyone else like that burning feeling in their stomach while doing sittups?  Am I sick to acutally like that pain?

Now that I know that level 2 and 3 are equally intense, I am going to rotate back and forth between the two. This way I will work out different areas of my body every other day and I won't get bored doing the same thing.  Since I have now done levels 1-3 I don't plan on doing a full report of each workout everyday….I think it would get boring since the workouts are the same over and over.

I am SUPER excited that YOU (for those of you that have) have joined in and are doing it with me (us)!  There are now 9 people doing the Shred! I love you for joining in and making it more fun! I feel motivated and excited that we are doing it together! Those of you who aren't doing the Shred, don't feel left out or get bored with all the Shred talk going on here….I want to hear about what you are doing and what you like/dislike about your workouts…I can't tell you how much I love all of your feed back and suggestions and ideas and everything. It is SO much fun to hear from you guys and learn what makes you tick and how you live your life!  I seriously love you!

I am taking today as an rest day from the Shred because GUESS WHAT? My sister COURTNEY and her sweet little family came into town last night! I am so excited they are here! I came into work at 5am so I could get off early and spend the day with them!  I am only going to work until 12:00pm (yay!).  My parents always fly my sister and her family to Utah for our annual Halloween party. They usually come in on Wednesday and stay through the weekend! The festivities go on the entire weekend….its a blast!  Needless to say, I will not be doing the Shred today after work and was not willing to get up at 4:00am this morning to make it happen either! Tomorrow, Courtney and I are going to go to a Yoga class in the morning. I set this as my weekly goal for "Baby Steps to Body Love" I intend on completing it! I've only been to 3-4 yoga classes ever and my sister has never been…I'm super excited!

I can't believe its 5:30am and I am so awake, alert and HAPPY! I am super excited about the weekend and super pumped about life.  So many fun things going on right now!! What fun things you say?……..I'll fill you in shortly!!

What is your favorite type of exercise?
-Cardio (running, kick boxing, eliptical, swimming, etc)?
-Yoga (what type) ?
-Strength Training (Free weights, organized program, circut training, etc)?

The Shred

 30 Day Shred

shred

I was not sure what to expect but was super excited to pop it in and find otu! I listened to her intro and decided I would start with level 1 and see what I thought.

Thoughts:
Level 1 was an OK workout, but not enough for me, especially since it is only 20 minutes.  Jillian said…this is only 20 minutes, so if you want to be able to work out for 20 minutes and really see a difference in your body, you have to work really hard.  After the workout I knew that I needed to bump it up to level 2 or 3. I went through and watched both level 2 and 3 and decidedI will do level 3 today and see how it goes. Pretty sure I can handle it for 20 minutes. Plus, I like to feel like I got my butt kicked. Nothing is worse than feeling like you need more or you could have worked harder! I ended up adding on a 2.5 miles fast paced walk afterwards.

Likes:
I love the ciruct training. I like how the workout is set up. 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs. I really enjoyed that.  I like that Jillian explains how to do each move properly. I feel comfortable with most exercises but sometimes there is technique that really makes the move more effective, and if I'm going to do something, I want to be doing it right!

I like that she does not allow any breaks. I totally agree with what she says…if you want a 20 minute workout to change your body..YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD.  She kept saying this does not come free. These abs do not come free…etc. I love hearing things like that.  Sometimes I get caught up in looking at other people and wishing for their bodies or muscles or whatever….I have to remember that their toned bodies did not come free, and if I want it I have to work for it! I really like that!

I like that there are a lot of reps in the strength training section. Since there are so many reps, you can use lighter weight but really fatigue the muscle! I can't wait to try level 3…I think it will be perfect!

I like that this is a 30 day program.

Anyone can do it, beginner or advanced. (I'm working on getting my mom and dad to do level 1)

You don't need anything besides hand weights.

Dislikes:
I can see myself getting bored doing the same workout over and over. (I think at 30 days I'll be ready for something new) -I do however think that a repetitive program allows you to see big results in your body since you are working the areas over and over.

Jillian does not recommend using a particular weight for the workouts. I'd like to know a round about number to shoot for instead of guessing. When I am told beginner use X amount of weight, intermediate X amount,  Advanced X  amount…I think it helps me push harder and I end up lifting more and pushing harder. (I found this to be the case with my personal trainer).

Conclusion:
I am SUPER excited to do the 30 day shred. I am excited to try level 3 today and see how that works out.  I think this program is going to give my body some great results.  I am excited to track my progress on the blog and hopefully encourage you to do the same (even if its not with the shred). The holiday season is right around the corner, instead of putting on the lbs…lets get in better shape, lose some LBS (if needed) and keep our bodies moving!! How great will it feel to come away from the holiday season, leaner, meaner (fitness wise) and in better shape!?? Gobble gobble!
I bought my copy of the shred on line for $10! It is super cheap and well worth the money! If you are interested in joining in and doing the Shred with me and don't yet own the Shred, click  30 Day Shred and it will take you to several different Shred DVD's for sale (some as cheap as $7 with free shipping).

At Home Workout

full dvd set biggest winner
(Gosh, I want my arms to look like that…."They will…keep at it")
THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING!!
When I got home from work yesterday I waited patiently for Dave to get home so we could workout together.  When he got home he was tired as ever (worked 12 hours) and not in the mood to workout. I was a little bummed because I had already waited over 30 minutes and could have been close to done by then…but he said if I stayed home and worked out he'd hang out with my in the basement while I did it. Sounded good to me.  I popped in  the The Biggest Winner DVD (Full Frontal) and went to town.

I had not done one of these dvd's forever so it was really fun!  Compared to crossfit they are not as hard, but it was still a great workout!  Five minutes into the workout Dave came out and joined me. He decided he would feel better if he worked out, so we ended up doing it together! What a sport!  We were sweating our butts off! That Jillian, she is so….EMBARASSING in these dvd's. She's such a cheese ball it's almost hard to watch.  Dave goofed around during the cardio segments and tried to make me laugh….It is so hard for me to not laugh when he does that stuff, but it totally messes up what I'm doing if I break down and laugh.  He's a goof ball. After we were finished I had Dave take a few pictures of some of the exercises we did.  When he was done, I headed out side and ended with a 1 mile run around the block! It was wonderful. A few pics…

Chest Press
chest press
One Legged Squat (oh the concentration)

one legged squat

French Dips (That's what she called them, but I don't)

french dip

Push Ups

pushup

Side Leg Lift with Goal Posts

side lift with shoulder goal posts

Chair squats with shoulder raises

squat with shoulder raises

I don't know what these are called, but you start with you arms to your side and then bring them to the front
(as shown)

front flys
Those were about 1/2 of the different types of exercises we did…but it gives a good idea. Sorry the pictures are so blurry, he took them with his IPhone in the dungeon (aka basement).

I actually don't mind working out at home. I do like all the different types of equipment there are at gyms, but sometimes its kinda nice to workout at home.

When and (if) Dave and I ever move I'm not sure what we will do about the gym situation.  Right now we are members of the nicest gym in the world.  Maybe not in the world, but I swear it feels that way.  It is fully rocked on the outside and all the inside pillars or rocked and the beams over head or huge wooden beams, like a log cabin or hotel or something really neat. The atmosphere is that of a spa. Its so lovely. The equipment is all new and each machine has its own tv.  The locker rooms are another story. The floors are all slated along with the showers, which are amazing. The showers are bigger than my shower at home each with their own dressing room attached. I used to get ready there every single morning after working out and I LOVED IT.  They provide, lotion, soap, shampoo, conditioner, towels, q-tips, tampons, razors, hair dryers, shaving cream for men, mouth wash…EVERYTHING you can think of.  I love this place.

Wanna guess how much we pay each month?….. $16 dollars!  No joke!  We paid a one time $150 sign on fee (together)and then we only pay $16 a month and are on a month to month contract.  See why I love this place?  Its high class, but super cheap!  Anyhow, my point is, after living in such luxury, we aren't sure what we will do after we move.  This gym will be 20 minutes away and all though I love it, it is not worth the drive. There are several gyms in the area, but they are all way more expensive and compared to Cross Roads (that's the name) and they are CRAPPY!  We might make our own little workout area in the basement and just buy the things we need, but we will see how it goes! It would be fun to create a gym in our basement (it is unfinished)…notice how I keep saying "our basement"…we don't really know if we are going to get the house or not…but a girl can dream right?

I'm SUPER excited its Friday and can't wait to get off work and hang out with Dave. We, like everyone else in the world, love the weekends so much. I love spending entire days together and doing the things we love! I think we might be going to a matinee this afternoon! Any recommendations?? I hope you all have an AWESOME WEEKEND!

I plan on running 5 miles tomorrow! (Posting that I'm going to do it will motivate me to follow through) I think Dave will join me when I tell him about it!!  I'm super excited!! I'll let you know how it goes!! xoxoxo

QA: (I Have quite a few…pretty please answer them, I need some feed back on this stuff!)

Do you workout at the gym or at home?
Do you feel you get as good of a workout at home as you do at the gym?

Day 16 Crossfit

me and dave2

( I just made this collage for my desktop at work, I have NO pictures of Dave and I at my desk because they are all in storage.  This will have to do for now!)

Yikes! This workout was not for the faint of heart.  My arms, butt, stomach, legs, shoulders, calfs…and everything else is SO SORE!  It was kick butt!!

Here's what we did:

3 Rounds
200M (.13 miles) run holding medicine ball
Nat: 10lbs Dave: 20lbs
50 Air Squats
50 Push Ups
50 Sit-ups

Holy mother of America. My arms were burning so bad! The first set I did all 50 full push ups. The next set I did all 40 with 10 knee push ups and the last set I did 30 full and 20 knee push ups. I could barley walk because swinging my arms took too much effort!  WOOW EE!!  The workout took about 30 minutes.  We spent about 5 or 10 minutes after wards working on my running form. Dave gave me some pointers and watched me run for a bit. I think I'm getting it. Funny thing is I never knew I was running funny, I never remember learning how to run I just did it and thought I was doing it right. There is SO much about form that I never even thought about! I'm excited to continue to get better and see how and if it helps my back pain!  This week I'm going to run again and try it out!

QA: Do you do the same workouts or routine every day/week/month.  How often do you switch up your workouts?

Day 15 Crossfit

Day 15 Crossfit

We have officially made it half way through our Crossfit challenge.  Although its been almost 30 days since we started, today was only the 15 Crossfit workout. The workout called for a 5K run. 5k= 3.1 miles. I was super excited to do this! I hadn't run a 5k since mothers day and today felt like a perfect time. I didn't have to work and I could plan out my route ahead of time. I jumped in the car and reset the trip and drove around the neighborhood mapping out my route.  When I pulled into the drive way the trip read 3.1 miles. WOO hoo! It was perfect!  I hadn't had time to eat breakfast and was worried an entire meal might make me feel sick, so I opted for 1/2 of a banana. It was just right. I made sure to get a puff of my inhaler before I left and took it with me just in case.  The weather was perfect. It was about 63F outside.  The shade was cool, and the sun was warm!  It felt so great running outside and breathing the fresh air. The streets had no traffic so I used the road as my personal path.  The wind blew most of the time making my eyes water like crazy. If you didn't know better you would have thought I was crying my eyes out.  I contemplated wearing a jacket before I left but I'm so glad I didn't because I heated up right away!!

The scenery was amazing! (I took these shots today)

photo

photo 5

I finished the 3 miles in 35 minutes, which means I ran about 5.7mph the entire time. I was pleased with that time because I haven't ran this long in months!  I didn't focus on speed but instead I focused on form.  Dave watched me run the other day at the gym and I guess I have horrible form!  Who knew!! I think my form is what is causing my back pain, so it's essential that I fix it.  I used my shadow to check myself and I think I did well.  My back isn't bothering me so that's a good sign!

When I got home I immediately checked my time and went out back to stretch.  I felt so awesome and was so glad to have ran without any breathing, back or knee problems!! Next week i'd like to try 4 or 5 miles! :)

(I wrote this post Friday afternoon and am just now getting around to posting it!!)

Day 14 Crossfit

Natalie Pictures_078

Yesterdays workout was not an easy one. I"m not sure if it was because I'm still not feeling 100% of just because it was super hard. Either way it kicked my bum!  I didn't work out Tuesday or Wednesday because I've been sick, and yesterday was probably the worst day I've ever had at work!  I was covering for 2 other people and my own work load (which isn't usually bad, but yesterday it was crazy). I was CRAZY busy all day long. People were driving me crazy.  There is this guy  at work that drives me crazy and always bosses me around and just bugs the crap out of me..well at one point in the day I was on the phone, talking to someone in person and holding with someone on my cell phone, he walked up to my desk and actually went to ask me a question, I nicely looked at him and said "GO AWAY"…he scurried off like a little girl. :) It made me feel better and me and the lady at my desk got a good laugh at it!  ANYHOW……my point to all of this was I was more than excited to get to the gym and shake my day off!

Here is what we did:

3 Rounds
Pull Ups
(assisted)
Dips
(assisted)
Sit Ups
(decline bench)
Jump Rope (100)
Burpees (15 every round)
1st round- 10
2nd round- 20
3rd round- 30

On the last round of burbpees it was like I was in another dimension. I was so out of it and so tired but I pushed through with no stopping. When I finished I collapsed on the floor (by choice) and could not move.  YIKES!  It was hard core. I think having a two day leave and being a little sick made it 100 times harder…BUT once I came back to earth and caught my breath I felt great!  The workout with out stretching took about 23 minutes. We stretched and headed home!

Thanks for all your nice comments about cutting my hair! I am super excited to get it done! (it's my day off so i'm home in bed writing this post…I slept from 9:30pm-8:45…heck ya).I'm off to run 5k today, and since I don't have a monitor, I'll go drive around and track the distance and then come back and run it.  It shall be fun!  After the 5k I am going to shower and do some things around the house and then go get my hair cut! WOO HOO! I"m seriously excited…only a tiny bit nervous, but that's normal right!?

Thanks again everyone for your help with Project Feed Me. Don't stop asking your family and friends if they are signed up!  Sometimes it takes a little nudging on our part!!  I am going to buy my items for week two tonight!!  Can't wait to show you!

Plans tonight?….. Movie, dinner….haunted house???  (This is what I want to do) We'll see what happens!!

Have a lovely day!

QA:  Do your workouts kill you the day after returning from being sick or a long break??

PS….I can't wait to see your pictures!

Crossfit

It felt so great to exercise yesterday!  I was able to work from home  yesterday so before Dave got home I headed out for a little run.  The run turned into a walk after the first five minutes of my lungs burning and me gasping for air.  When will I learn people?  I needed my inhaler! GEEZE! I ended up speed walking for about 25 minutes. If you would have driven by me on the road, I think you might have laughed.  I was trying to go as fast as I could while trying to suck in as much air as possible at the same time….I'm sure it looked pretty funny!  As soon as I got home I grabbed my inhaler took a couple puffs…and ta du…I feel great.  I know you must think that I'm crazy for forgetting my inhaler all the time, but my asthma is so sparatic that sometimes I'm just fine and other times I can't get any air in.  Anyhow….after my run walk, Dave came home and we headed to the gym.

Poor Dave, his back is still hurting him. :(   It usually goes away in 2-3 days but he is still not all the way back to normal.  He did his own thing so he could be careful with his back and I did Crossfit!

Here's what I did:

4 Rounds
21 Pushups
15Sumo Dead Lift High Pulls
Nat: 35lbs
9 Pistols (1 legged squats)
20lbs

I finished pretty quickly.  It only took  about 20 minutes. I used resistance and did 3 sets of 30 ab exercises to finish my workout.  Have you ever tried pistols? Geeze Louisethey are hard. I could barley do them!  I had to go ask a trainer if I was doing them right because it felt so awkward and way too hard. Turns out they are super hard and even my trainer used a bench to complete them. (even with the bench they were killer).

I felt so great after our workout.  After not doing Crossfit for three days, I was more than ready to get a hard core workout in. While I was on my walk I thought about how good it feels to exercise. Whether I am taking a walk, running, or about to throw up doing Crossfit…It just feels so good! I remember a time when it was pure torture. Every second seemed unbearable and I only did it for one reason and one reason only..(weight loss). What a lovely thing exercise is when it's done for the right reasons. Love it, love it, love it!!

On a less than serious note, last night Dave and I had big plans with the TV. We watched Heroes and tried to watch Hoarders on A&E, but it was a re-run. Does anyone else love that show? Its so crazy to watch. I'm not sure why we don't get sick of it, same thing over and over each week, but it is just fascinating!!

I'm back at work today at my desk (blah) and I'm not loving it.  Hopefully I'll be busy and the day will fly by.  Chances are that is not going to happen!!

 QA:
Are you bored at work?
What do you do to make the time fly?

After dave sent over the cutesty "i love you" picture that he drew, he sent this one…

LOL!!  ha ha ha ha ha….it's going to be a good day!!

back pain123

Dave broke his back in high school and every so often (every 3-4 months) his back will go out. This causes him a lot of pain.  Funny thing is it has nothing to do with lifting things that are heavy. He can sit on the wrong chair, move the wrong way….we actually can't pin point what causes it. Yesterday it happend while he was washing his toe in the shower.  It's not any fun when his back goes out. Not for either of us. He is in so much pain, and I feel horrible that he is in so much pain and I can't do anything to fix it!  Today he is doing a bit better than yesterday. Being the sport that he is, he even managed to go to the gym this morning.  He walked slowly on the treadmill and tried to do some easy core exercises to see if he could get his back to go back in place (sometimes this method works).  It didn't work today.  Although he is feeling a bit better  than yesterday, he is still in a lot of pain, so today, we are having a lazy day. We are going to hang out in bed…probably all day long.  I was looking forward to going down town, but I'm having just as much fun snuggling with my honey watching movies.

I did not do a crossfit exercise today since Dave wasn't up for it. He wanted me to wait until he was ready (most likely Monday). I hit the treadmill instead.  I did intervals of 2 minute run 1 min walk for 30 minutes. I ran at what I consider to be a fast pace (for me) 7.0 and then walked at 4.0.  I kept my heart rate SUPER high during the runs and tried to bring it back down during the walking portions.  My trainer told me that doing this method confuses your body and helps you burn more calories, it's really effective!Since I was trying to go hard core and do something that got my heart rate up like Crossfit, I thought this was great! HEY….Speaking of calories, I just realized that when I was done running I didn't even think about looking to see how many calories I had burned.  This is a huge accomplishment for me….having been so obsessed in my past with counting and burning calories, I'm so proud of myself that I completed an entire machine workout and didn't even bother to see what it had to say.  I knew I worked hard and that was enough!! YIPPEE!!! After the treadmill
I added on 10 minutes of abs afterwards, nothing new just the same old stuff. I'm sure Dave's back will get feeling better in a few days, so we will be back at Crossfit on Monday. (his back spats usually only last 2-4 days).  Later tonight we are going to do some fun stuff that I'll show you on Mondays post for Project Feed Me! I can't wait!!  I better get back down stairs before he realizes that I am doing something more than just changing the laundry!! :)

Have a great weekend!! Don't forget Project Feed Me starts this Monday!! I can't wait! Please do your part to spread the word and get people involved (and registered…I really want to keep track of our progress!) It is going to be HUGE!!!
