Good News, Bad News
I must have confused you yesterday with my big long bucket list. That was NOT my list of goals for 2010, it was just a fun little thing I found on my personal blog from a few years ago. I'm not crazy enough to set that many outrageous goals in one year, that's more like a life time of random goals in one list. Just wanted to clear that up!
GOOD NEWS
I just found out I don't have to work on Friday. YAY!!!!
BAD NEWS
Dave and I had family home evening last night, but we did not end up writing out our goals. I don't know how I forgot but I guess Dave doesn't like to set goals. At least not on paper. After we got to talking last night, he reminded me that last year I "forced" him to write out goals with me, and this year he didn't really want to. He told me he'd be happy to hear about my goals and help me set them, but he doesn't like to put goals in writing. He just doesn't like it. To each their own I guess. If he was not clearly able to achieve any goals, I might be a little bugged or concerned, but he always achieves the things he sets out for, whether they are in writing or not, so I didn't do any forcing this year.
GOOD NEWS
We didn't set any goals together last night…at least not on paper but we did verbally talk about some goals together, which really was better than nothing.
GOOD NEWS
We joined a new gym yesterday. I'm not in love with it, but it will due. It is really close, only 4 minutes away, the price is good $20 a month and it has a basketball area that Dave is thrilled about. I think it is going to end up working out pretty nice for both of us and here's why: Dave usually only likes to work out for 30 minutes or so and most days I want to go longer. Yesterday we stayed at the gym for about 50 minutes. He did 30 minutes of weights and then played basketball for the next 20 minutes while I finished up what I was doing. It was perfect! This way I don't feel rushed and he doesn't get bored waiting around. It's a perfect solution for both of us.
BAD NEWS
On a not so happy note…ERRRRRRRRRRRRR. That is me being upset. The workout as a whole was great. It was my back…that was not great. It started bothering me a few hours after we got home from the gym. I don't get it. Is it me? Is it the treadmill? The past month I have ran quite a few times outside and have been just fine, no back pain at all. Although my back pain today and last night is not super bad, the fact that it's there really bugs me. I'm not sure if my form lags when I'm on a treadmill as apposed to outside or what the heck the problem is…all I know is I'm frustrated. I don't even dare to run for the rest of the week because once it starts hurting it takes a while for it to go away and I don't want to make it worse than it already is. I'm not really sure what I am going to do or how to figure it out. Any ideas?
GOOD NEWS
Last night we ate at our very own dinner table for the first time in our entire 2 1/2 year marriage! No joke! We have never owned a dinner table before and did not get chairs until just recently, so last night we ate together at the dinner table for the first time! It was really fun. Check it out…
The table with the chairs
BAD NEWS
My mom called and told me my camera is not at their house. What!? Where is it then? I'm in trouble.
GOOD NEWS
I made a new dish which was awesome. We had almond chicken (SO GOOD), brown lemon rice and green beans. MMMM MMMM GOOD. I'm such a nerd but I'm get so proud of myself when I cook something really yummy. I guess its because not everything I cook is really yummy. I'm working on it though!!
(Yes we both had a soda with our meal. Dave was in charge of getting us drinks, and that is what he picked)
I ended up drinking water and saving my soda for afterwards.
BAD NEWS
Although I love repeat LOVE watching the Bachelor….this season is the most awkward season I've ever seen so far. The girls, Jake, everything about it makes me squirm in my seat. And what's up with the freaky weird dramatic cry baby girl? Do you think she is crazy???? I do. I'm still super excited to keep watching though.
GOOD NEWS
Did you see Love On A Conveyor Belt last night. Dave and I laughed our bums off! Too Funny! I will be watching it again next week. Also, we are super excited for all our favorite TV shows to come back on. We really truly heart our TV shows.
DOUBLE GOOD NEWS
Although we didn't put it in writing, we made a goal to eat at the dinner table every night and I love the idea!
QA: Do you eat at the dinner table every night?
Do you physically write down your goals?
Fitness…Goals…Vacations
Fitness
By no choice of my own, I was sick for a lot of the break. I was never deathly ill stuck to my bed, but I was not feeling good enough to run or work up any type of heart rate for a lot of the days. I was kinda lazy for a few of the days after I started feeling better and didn't want to exert much energy. So all in all, I didn't work out as much as I would have liked, but its ok, I did what I could and now that I have taken adequate time to rest and am feeling 100% better, I'm seriously looking forward to this week and my workouts! For the last few months, I have been tracking my workouts almost every day in the Fitness tab on my page. I have now archived that page and have begun a new 2010 fitness page. I'm not doing anything special on this page, just logging my workouts. I thought it would be fun to start from scratch for the new year. I got a heart rate monitor for Christmas, but it didn't have a distance tracker, so we sent it back and today I am going to try and pick out a monitor that logs, distance, calories and heart rate, etc.
(any suggestions for a good one around $175/180?)
We're going to have to spend a bit more to add the distance tracker, but I'd really like to have it. My hopes are to incorporate more running into my workouts, if my body will allow. So far I've done great and have had no pain, but I am a bit hesitant to get super excited about running since I've had problems in the past with my back. I am going to take it slow and see how I feel and set goals based on my body and how It reacts. If possible I'd love to run a few races and build my distance. Speaking of races, why do they cost so stinking much? There is a race called the "Ragnar" that Dave and I have been thinking about running, but it is $100 a person. Blah. Maybe if it was just me running it wouldn't seem so bad, but $200 for us to run a race….I just don't like the sound of that. I think $25 or $50 a person is more like it. There is a race in San Francisco called The 12k across the bay, which I'd love to do. We did it once a few years ago and it was so much fun! We met my parents in San Fran and shared a hotel room. We hit all the hot spots, ate at yummy restaurants and then ran the race on our last day there. We had not trained at ALL and by the time we made it to the airport that night we were both limping, Dave so bad that he thought he broke his foot. I had to push him in a wheel chair around the airport. After a few days we both ended up being just fine…but that's what we get for not training for a 12k run. We hadn't even really even been exercising. What were we thinking??
There is also another race i'd love to do. It's a 1/2 marathon in May. It starts in the canyon and the trail goes around a large damn and then down the canyon…it would be so beautiful. I guess I'll have to play it by ear and see how my body does. My tentative plan is to run 3x a week and strength train 2x a week. I plan on taking Friday's and Sunday's off. I think this schedule will keep me motivated, strong, and give me the rest in between that I need. It's just a tentative plan, but a plan it is.
Goals
Tonight Dave and I are going to have Family Home Evening. Click on the link to learn what Family Home Evening is.
We are going to review our goals from last year and see how we've done. We have of course reviewed our goals throughout the year, but we still like to sit down and review them at the end/beginning of the year and see how we've done. I'm excited to see what we have accomplished and excited to set some new challenging goals. I love the new year. Even though I'm really unhappy about being at work right now, I'm happy about today and about starting a new year. I'm excited for 2010 and everything that will happen. Living in our new house, a new baby (not mine, sissys), lots of vacations, holidays, summer, new traditions……there is just so much to look forward to! I'm excited for a year full of healthy living, positive attitude and continued improvements. I think 2010 will be my best year so far.
Check out this bucket list I posted on my personal blog a few years ago. The highlighted items are all things I've done. This is not a personal list I created, just a random bucket list that was fun to do. I've been able to add a few highlighted items to this list since then. I'll underline the one's I've done since originally posting this (there are 4 new ones).

Vacations
Every year over our anniversary Dave and I go on a tropical vacation to celebrate. Around this time each year, I start making the arrangements. This year we aren't sure where we want to go. We've been to Maui twice and last year we did an all inclusive in Mexico. Since we just bought a new home, we need to try and find something a little less expensive this year. We still want to go tropical, but have not yet decided exactly what to do or where to go.
Any IDEAS??? We've thrown around the idea of a cruise…but to where? I've been A LOT of cruises and but Dave has only been on one, so this may be the right way for us to go this year…???
If you have any great cruise spots, or any vacation ideas, let me know!
Frosty Run

I heard this song on the Radio this morning and it made me smile. Do you LOVE this cartoon? I love love love it!
I ran outside yesterday and loved it. It was pretty cold, but I was dressed warm and felt great. My ears got a bit cold, but other than that it was awesome. I'm starting to figure out that switching up my exercise every so often excites me and really motivates me. I haven't run for quite a while. I had to stop when I hurt my foot and I've only done it a few times since then. I am really loving it…and GUESS WHAT?!! My back doesn't hurt after wards! That's right. I've now run three times in the last week and have had zero back pain. This is exciting news for me! It means that maybe I can run pain free! I don't want to wear myself out, so I'm going to take it easy, but I'm excited to keep at it. Yesterday as I ran I felt so strong! It's like I could have gone forever. I love the cold crisp air and the quietness of the snow…its so peaceful! I pulled out my ipod for half of the run (I haven't used that thing in 7 or 8 months!). It was fun to run to the music, I'm pretty sure it made me pick up my speed quite a bit.
I used to hate running. Mostly because I couldn't do it and I thought it was boring. It's not an easy thing to get used to doing . I still suck at it, but I do love doing it. I'm not "a runner" nor do I plan on becoming one, I just like it when i'm in the mood to run and feel good doing it! We've been having so many parties and luncheons lately that it's been hard to not eat a lot of unnecessary things. I felt really great after yesterdays run, it gave me lots of motivation to continue tokeep active, especially durning the holidays when goodies and laziness are around every corner!!
It's so easy to tell yourself "it's the holidays" or..I'll start exercising when January comes around. Its so crazy to think about past Christmas's or holidays….it used to be a free for all. I'd eat crap all day long and never exercise. I always ended up feeling guilty and plotting out my next "diet". I"m so glad I don't burden myself with that kind of behavior anymore! I love feeling good, eating healthy and staying active, I love even more that I want to do these things because of how they make me feel today and everyday and not because of how I want to look or feel in the future. It makes the holidays that much more enjoyable!
Today is my last day of work, until the 4th of January!! I hope the day goes by fast!! Dave's sicko and I'm crossing my fingers that he doesn't pass it off to me. I've been saving up my vacation time to take all of this time off during Christmas break. If I'm sick, I will not be too happy.
Ok, so ya know how I said yesterday we would be closing on our house? I lied. Not on purpose though. Today is the big day. Today at 3:30pm. Finally the wait will be over!
My nose is starting to act funny and runny. EEEERRRRRRR. Say a prayer for me.
QA: What do you want for Christmas? I want a heart rate monitor/milage counter/calorie counter/zone monitor
5 miles all smiles
5 MIles! Yay! I am so excited to report that I ran 5 miles! I have run longer distances than this before, but not in a long time and not for the right reasons! Dave had to go to work bah humbug (more on that later) so he was not able to come with. It was a bit chilly outside so I made sure I was dressed properly. I had some warm Adidas pants on, a shirt and jacket and the cutest gloves ever! I bought them yesterday at Dollar Tree….Aren't they so cute? They were perfect and kept my fingers warm the whole time.

I talked my dad into speed walking half of my run with me but as soon we started we both realized he was not going to keep up…I figured I ran pretty slow so it would be the same…not even close.(You are not slow you are just beginning…keep fighting and you'll get better and stronger "The Power of Positive Thinking"). After we realized we were not at all at the same pace he told me to ago head and he'd do his normal walk. I was off like a rocket. I was actually going faster at first and then I slowed down to my normal. I used www.mapmyride.com like many of you suggested. I plotted out where I was going to run and made sure it was 5 miles. When I made it to the half way point, I felt great and knew that another 2.5 miles would be completely doable. Towards the end one of the roads I picked on the www.mapmyride, was not a through street like it had shown online, so I had to hike up a muddy hillside and meet up with the road I was looking for, it might have cost me a minute or two but it wasn't bad. The last 10 minutes my knees started to hurt the last little bit and I started to feel a blister on the side of my right foot (I don't know what I was thinking but I picked horrible socks to run in), but other than that I really felt great! I ran right inside and checked my time. (Yes I have a watch could use, but I wanted to see how fast i'd run it without looking at the clock). I was shooting for a time of 60 minutes and I completed in 56 minutes! 4 minutes faster than i'd hoped for! I jumped for joy…literally! Immediately after my joy jump, I laid on the kitchen floor and stretched for 10 or 15 minutes. Then my dad took this picture in the driveway….check out the leaves and mountain…so pretty.
He was proud of me…ha so was I!
My knees were sore for the next hour and then they felt fine, but surprisingly my entire body is sore. Muscle sore that is. I'm not sure if its from this run or from Jillian's workout on Thursday. I think it is a combination of both! Anyhow, the run went great and I am thrilled that I ran 5 miles and am still alive! Next week I think I'll add on one more mile…ha before I do that…I think I might just look into some of the training schedules you all suggested!! Running is awesome. (DUH NAT WE KNOW) I feel strong and accomplished, do you know what I mean? I love thinking that I ran 5 miles today. Even though the distance isn't that far compared to other bloggers out there, to me it is awesome and that is all I care about. No need tracking my progress against someone else's, its a waste of time. I'm more than happy with 5 miles!!

Actually I want you to do the Shred with me!
Next week I plan to start The 30 Day Shred! I know many of you own The 30 day Shred and have done it before so if you want to join in and do it with me, I'd love it!! I am planning on starting Monday! It would be SUPER fun to talk about it together and track our progress….is anyone in I hope so! If we start on the 26th we will end the first week of December. December 4th to be precise. Who's in? Let me know ASAP!! What a better way to stay in shape over the holidays? Instead of gaining weight from all the extra stuff we end up eating around the holidays, we will be staying in shape and getting really strong! If you/we commit to doing it together it will be a good way for us to hold each other accountable!!
PX90 News:
I talked to Dave about Px90 (Over a yummy 2 for $20 dinner at Chili's last night) and we decided that after we move into the new house (if we do) we will create a gym in the basement with everything we need for PX90 and get started! We are shooting for after Christmas. I think this will give us enough time to get moved in settled, and get the equipment that we need to get started! I am SO PUMPED TO TRY IT!! Have you watched any of the testimonials? Geeze it puts a hug bug in me and makes me want to do it! All 90 days of it!
So, just incase you're wondering, I am typing this laying on the floor in Dave's office at work. I also just finished 20 minutes of yoga (in his office)! He even put on Yoga music for me. He likes to work with the lights off and a small light on so, the mood was perfect!! Wondering why I'm at Dave's office on a Saturday doing yoga and blogging? He had to come into work today because they had some crisis and he was the only one who could fix it. I feel bad for him he really didn't want to come in, but he is the brain and they needed him. I brought him lunch and am now just hanging out while he does his thing. I brought plenty to keep my occupied. Computer, yoga dvd, magazines, book and in case I get tired a body pillow!!
For lunch we ha Rumbi Grill for! MMMM!! I had a kids meal with Jamaican Jerk Chicken and Rice and Dave had a 1/2 order of the Teriyaki Chicken and rice (minus veggies). YUMMO! It was great!

Here he is my lovey working away ( I turned off the flash so you get an idea of how dark it is in there)

Here I am blogging away

After he comes up with a solution to the problem they are having, we are going to go to the mall and buy our Halloween costumes. We both know what we are going to be and I can't wait. My parents throw a HUGE Halloween party every year (you can't even imagine how crazy it is). It is next Friday so we've got to get on it! We also might go to IKEA to look for some fun things for when we move! And even more exciting than that…. later tonight we are going to a Haunted house with my sister and her husband! I can't wait!
(5 minutes later) YAY HE DID IT! HE FIXED THE PROBLEM!! WOO HOO…LOOKS LIKE WE ARE HEADED TO HAVE SOME FUN! two-da lew!
At Home Workout

(Gosh, I want my arms to look like that…."They will…keep at it")
THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING!!
When I got home from work yesterday I waited patiently for Dave to get home so we could workout together. When he got home he was tired as ever (worked 12 hours) and not in the mood to workout. I was a little bummed because I had already waited over 30 minutes and could have been close to done by then…but he said if I stayed home and worked out he'd hang out with my in the basement while I did it. Sounded good to me. I popped in the The Biggest Winner DVD (Full Frontal) and went to town.
I had not done one of these dvd's forever so it was really fun! Compared to crossfit they are not as hard, but it was still a great workout! Five minutes into the workout Dave came out and joined me. He decided he would feel better if he worked out, so we ended up doing it together! What a sport! We were sweating our butts off! That Jillian, she is so….EMBARASSING in these dvd's. She's such a cheese ball it's almost hard to watch. Dave goofed around during the cardio segments and tried to make me laugh….It is so hard for me to not laugh when he does that stuff, but it totally messes up what I'm doing if I break down and laugh. He's a goof ball. After we were finished I had Dave take a few pictures of some of the exercises we did. When he was done, I headed out side and ended with a 1 mile run around the block! It was wonderful. A few pics…
Chest Press

One Legged Squat (oh the concentration)

French Dips (That's what she called them, but I don't)

Push Ups

Side Leg Lift with Goal Posts

Chair squats with shoulder raises

I don't know what these are called, but you start with you arms to your side and then bring them to the front
(as shown)

Those were about 1/2 of the different types of exercises we did…but it gives a good idea. Sorry the pictures are so blurry, he took them with his IPhone in the dungeon (aka basement).
I actually don't mind working out at home. I do like all the different types of equipment there are at gyms, but sometimes its kinda nice to workout at home.
When and (if) Dave and I ever move I'm not sure what we will do about the gym situation. Right now we are members of the nicest gym in the world. Maybe not in the world, but I swear it feels that way. It is fully rocked on the outside and all the inside pillars or rocked and the beams over head or huge wooden beams, like a log cabin or hotel or something really neat. The atmosphere is that of a spa. Its so lovely. The equipment is all new and each machine has its own tv. The locker rooms are another story. The floors are all slated along with the showers, which are amazing. The showers are bigger than my shower at home each with their own dressing room attached. I used to get ready there every single morning after working out and I LOVED IT. They provide, lotion, soap, shampoo, conditioner, towels, q-tips, tampons, razors, hair dryers, shaving cream for men, mouth wash…EVERYTHING you can think of. I love this place.
Wanna guess how much we pay each month?….. $16 dollars! No joke! We paid a one time $150 sign on fee (together)and then we only pay $16 a month and are on a month to month contract. See why I love this place? Its high class, but super cheap! Anyhow, my point is, after living in such luxury, we aren't sure what we will do after we move. This gym will be 20 minutes away and all though I love it, it is not worth the drive. There are several gyms in the area, but they are all way more expensive and compared to Cross Roads (that's the name) and they are CRAPPY! We might make our own little workout area in the basement and just buy the things we need, but we will see how it goes! It would be fun to create a gym in our basement (it is unfinished)…notice how I keep saying "our basement"…we don't really know if we are going to get the house or not…but a girl can dream right?
I'm SUPER excited its Friday and can't wait to get off work and hang out with Dave. We, like everyone else in the world, love the weekends so much. I love spending entire days together and doing the things we love! I think we might be going to a matinee this afternoon! Any recommendations?? I hope you all have an AWESOME WEEKEND!
I plan on running 5 miles tomorrow! (Posting that I'm going to do it will motivate me to follow through) I think Dave will join me when I tell him about it!! I'm super excited!! I'll let you know how it goes!! xoxoxo
QA: (I Have quite a few…pretty please answer them, I need some feed back on this stuff!)
Do you workout at the gym or at home?
Do you feel you get as good of a workout at home as you do at the gym?
How much does your gym cost? (I want to see what is reasonable, I realize $16 is super cheap)
Have you done "The Shred"..did you like it?
Have you tried PX90…did you like it?
Day 16 Crossfit
( I just made this collage for my desktop at work, I have NO pictures of Dave and I at my desk because they are all in storage. This will have to do for now!)
Yikes! This workout was not for the faint of heart. My arms, butt, stomach, legs, shoulders, calfs…and everything else is SO SORE! It was kick butt!!
Here's what we did:
3 Rounds
200M (.13 miles) run holding medicine ball
Nat: 10lbs Dave: 20lbs
50 Air Squats
50 Push Ups
50 Sit-ups
Holy mother of America. My arms were burning so bad! The first set I did all 50 full push ups. The next set I did all 40 with 10 knee push ups and the last set I did 30 full and 20 knee push ups. I could barley walk because swinging my arms took too much effort! WOOW EE!! The workout took about 30 minutes. We spent about 5 or 10 minutes after wards working on my running form. Dave gave me some pointers and watched me run for a bit. I think I'm getting it. Funny thing is I never knew I was running funny, I never remember learning how to run I just did it and thought I was doing it right. There is SO much about form that I never even thought about! I'm excited to continue to get better and see how and if it helps my back pain! This week I'm going to run again and try it out!
QA: Do you do the same workouts or routine every day/week/month. How often do you switch up your workouts?
Day 15 Crossfit
Day 15 Crossfit
We have officially made it half way through our Crossfit challenge. Although its been almost 30 days since we started, today was only the 15 Crossfit workout. The workout called for a 5K run. 5k= 3.1 miles. I was super excited to do this! I hadn't run a 5k since mothers day and today felt like a perfect time. I didn't have to work and I could plan out my route ahead of time. I jumped in the car and reset the trip and drove around the neighborhood mapping out my route. When I pulled into the drive way the trip read 3.1 miles. WOO hoo! It was perfect! I hadn't had time to eat breakfast and was worried an entire meal might make me feel sick, so I opted for 1/2 of a banana. It was just right. I made sure to get a puff of my inhaler before I left and took it with me just in case. The weather was perfect. It was about 63F outside. The shade was cool, and the sun was warm! It felt so great running outside and breathing the fresh air. The streets had no traffic so I used the road as my personal path. The wind blew most of the time making my eyes water like crazy. If you didn't know better you would have thought I was crying my eyes out. I contemplated wearing a jacket before I left but I'm so glad I didn't because I heated up right away!!
The scenery was amazing! (I took these shots today)

I finished the 3 miles in 35 minutes, which means I ran about 5.7mph the entire time. I was pleased with that time because I haven't ran this long in months! I didn't focus on speed but instead I focused on form. Dave watched me run the other day at the gym and I guess I have horrible form! Who knew!! I think my form is what is causing my back pain, so it's essential that I fix it. I used my shadow to check myself and I think I did well. My back isn't bothering me so that's a good sign!
When I got home I immediately checked my time and went out back to stretch. I felt so awesome and was so glad to have ran without any breathing, back or knee problems!! Next week i'd like to try 4 or 5 miles!
(I wrote this post Friday afternoon and am just now getting around to posting it!!)
Day 14 Crossfit

Yesterdays workout was not an easy one. I"m not sure if it was because I'm still not feeling 100% of just because it was super hard. Either way it kicked my bum! I didn't work out Tuesday or Wednesday because I've been sick, and yesterday was probably the worst day I've ever had at work! I was covering for 2 other people and my own work load (which isn't usually bad, but yesterday it was crazy). I was CRAZY busy all day long. People were driving me crazy. There is this guy at work that drives me crazy and always bosses me around and just bugs the crap out of me..well at one point in the day I was on the phone, talking to someone in person and holding with someone on my cell phone, he walked up to my desk and actually went to ask me a question, I nicely looked at him and said "GO AWAY"…he scurried off like a little girl.
It made me feel better and me and the lady at my desk got a good laugh at it! ANYHOW……my point to all of this was I was more than excited to get to the gym and shake my day off!
Here is what we did:
3 Rounds
Pull Ups
(assisted)
Dips
(assisted)
Sit Ups
(decline bench)
Jump Rope (100)
Burpees (15 every round)
1st round- 10
2nd round- 20
3rd round- 30
On the last round of burbpees it was like I was in another dimension. I was so out of it and so tired but I pushed through with no stopping. When I finished I collapsed on the floor (by choice) and could not move. YIKES! It was hard core. I think having a two day leave and being a little sick made it 100 times harder…BUT once I came back to earth and caught my breath I felt great! The workout with out stretching took about 23 minutes. We stretched and headed home!
Thanks for all your nice comments about cutting my hair! I am super excited to get it done! (it's my day off so i'm home in bed writing this post…I slept from 9:30pm-8:45…heck ya).I'm off to run 5k today, and since I don't have a monitor, I'll go drive around and track the distance and then come back and run it. It shall be fun! After the 5k I am going to shower and do some things around the house and then go get my hair cut! WOO HOO! I"m seriously excited…only a tiny bit nervous, but that's normal right!?
Thanks again everyone for your help with Project Feed Me. Don't stop asking your family and friends if they are signed up! Sometimes it takes a little nudging on our part!! I am going to buy my items for week two tonight!! Can't wait to show you!
Plans tonight?….. Movie, dinner….haunted house??? (This is what I want to do) We'll see what happens!!
Have a lovely day!
QA: Do your workouts kill you the day after returning from being sick or a long break??
ps…the picture of my eye has no relevance to this post, I was just looking through some pictures and thought it was cool. Dave took that picture of my eye on our first date. weird? na, thats just him.
Day 13 Crossfit
(dave just sent me this pic, he drew it for me on his i-phone…love him!)
Thank you all for your efforts with Project Feed Me! The Project is growing like crazy and it's all thanks to YOU!!! There are now 92 people participating! The numbers went up by 20 people yesterday!! Check out all the people participating across the nation here. PS….I can't wait to see your pictures!
Crossfit
It felt so great to exercise yesterday! I was able to work from home yesterday so before Dave got home I headed out for a little run. The run turned into a walk after the first five minutes of my lungs burning and me gasping for air. When will I learn people? I needed my inhaler! GEEZE! I ended up speed walking for about 25 minutes. If you would have driven by me on the road, I think you might have laughed. I was trying to go as fast as I could while trying to suck in as much air as possible at the same time….I'm sure it looked pretty funny! As soon as I got home I grabbed my inhaler took a couple puffs…and ta du…I feel great. I know you must think that I'm crazy for forgetting my inhaler all the time, but my asthma is so sparatic that sometimes I'm just fine and other times I can't get any air in. Anyhow….after my run walk, Dave came home and we headed to the gym.
Poor Dave, his back is still hurting him.
It usually goes away in 2-3 days but he is still not all the way back to normal. He did his own thing so he could be careful with his back and I did Crossfit!
Here's what I did:
4 Rounds
21 Pushups
15Sumo Dead Lift High Pulls
Nat: 35lbs
9 Pistols (1 legged squats)
20lbs
I finished pretty quickly. It only took about 20 minutes. I used resistance and did 3 sets of 30 ab exercises to finish my workout. Have you ever tried pistols? Geeze Louisethey are hard. I could barley do them! I had to go ask a trainer if I was doing them right because it felt so awkward and way too hard. Turns out they are super hard and even my trainer used a bench to complete them. (even with the bench they were killer).
I felt so great after our workout. After not doing Crossfit for three days, I was more than ready to get a hard core workout in. While I was on my walk I thought about how good it feels to exercise. Whether I am taking a walk, running, or about to throw up doing Crossfit…It just feels so good! I remember a time when it was pure torture. Every second seemed unbearable and I only did it for one reason and one reason only..(weight loss). What a lovely thing exercise is when it's done for the right reasons. Love it, love it, love it!!
On a less than serious note, last night Dave and I had big plans with the TV. We watched Heroes and tried to watch Hoarders on A&E, but it was a re-run. Does anyone else love that show? Its so crazy to watch. I'm not sure why we don't get sick of it, same thing over and over each week, but it is just fascinating!!
I'm back at work today at my desk (blah) and I'm not loving it. Hopefully I'll be busy and the day will fly by. Chances are that is not going to happen!!
QA:
Are you bored at work?
What do you do to make the time fly?
After dave sent over the cutesty "i love you" picture that he drew, he sent this one…
LOL!! ha ha ha ha ha….it's going to be a good day!!
back pain = lazy day

Dave broke his back in high school and every so often (every 3-4 months) his back will go out. This causes him a lot of pain. Funny thing is it has nothing to do with lifting things that are heavy. He can sit on the wrong chair, move the wrong way….we actually can't pin point what causes it. Yesterday it happend while he was washing his toe in the shower. It's not any fun when his back goes out. Not for either of us. He is in so much pain, and I feel horrible that he is in so much pain and I can't do anything to fix it! Today he is doing a bit better than yesterday. Being the sport that he is, he even managed to go to the gym this morning. He walked slowly on the treadmill and tried to do some easy core exercises to see if he could get his back to go back in place (sometimes this method works). It didn't work today. Although he is feeling a bit better than yesterday, he is still in a lot of pain, so today, we are having a lazy day. We are going to hang out in bed…probably all day long. I was looking forward to going down town, but I'm having just as much fun snuggling with my honey watching movies.
I did not do a crossfit exercise today since Dave wasn't up for it. He wanted me to wait until he was ready (most likely Monday). I hit the treadmill instead. I did intervals of 2 minute run 1 min walk for 30 minutes. I ran at what I consider to be a fast pace (for me) 7.0 and then walked at 4.0. I kept my heart rate SUPER high during the runs and tried to bring it back down during the walking portions. My trainer told me that doing this method confuses your body and helps you burn more calories, it's really effective!Since I was trying to go hard core and do something that got my heart rate up like Crossfit, I thought this was great! HEY….Speaking of calories, I just realized that when I was done running I didn't even think about looking to see how many calories I had burned. This is a huge accomplishment for me….having been so obsessed in my past with counting and burning calories, I'm so proud of myself that I completed an entire machine workout and didn't even bother to see what it had to say. I knew I worked hard and that was enough!! YIPPEE!!! After the treadmill
I added on 10 minutes of abs afterwards, nothing new just the same old stuff. I'm sure Dave's back will get feeling better in a few days, so we will be back at Crossfit on Monday. (his back spats usually only last 2-4 days). Later tonight we are going to do some fun stuff that I'll show you on Mondays post for Project Feed Me! I can't wait!! I better get back down stairs before he realizes that I am doing something more than just changing the laundry!!
Have a great weekend!! Don't forget Project Feed Me starts this Monday!! I can't wait! Please do your part to spread the word and get people involved (and registered…I really want to keep track of our progress!) It is going to be HUGE!!!
